Contact Plexus Technical Service for recommendations on any surface other than Aluminum or Stainless Steel.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">Plexus PC-120 works by:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cleaning the surface of contamination using Isopropyl Alcohol to \u201clift\u201d machine oils and other contamination.<\/li><li>Depositing a thin Phosphate based coating to retard corrosion.<\/li><li>Leaving a light \u201cpink\u201d color to assist in determining what areas have, and have not, been treated with PC\u2010120.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">How should PC-120 be used?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>PC\u2010120 can be brushed, wiped or sprayed onto the surface being primed.<\/li><li>The PC\u2010120 applied should then be wiped with a clean dry rag to remove any surface contamination cleaned by the PC\u2010120 and leave only a thin, quick drying film.<\/li><li>Dirty or oily rags should be replaced to avoid improper cleaning.<\/li><li>Quality dye\u2010free paper towels that don\u2019t leave fibers behind are recommended.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">Common Mistakes with PC-120<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Using too much PC-120<ol><li>Only a very thin coat should be left on the metal. You should be able to see a slight \u201cpink\u201d cast as illustrated below.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"316\" height=\"108\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PC-120-Too-Much.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4722\"\/><figcaption><em><strong>Too Much PC-120<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PC-120-Correct-Amount.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4723\" width=\"320\" height=\"108\"\/><figcaption><em><strong>Correct Amount of PC-120<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\"><li>Not removing oils once primed<ol><li>The solvents in PC\u2010120 will clean and \u201clift\u201d most machining oils, but if the metal isn\u2019t wiped clean of these oils then they will be deposited right back onto the metal surface when the solvent in PC\u2010120 evaporates!<\/li><li>While still wet, wipe the PC\u2010120 applied to the surface with a clean dry paper towel, changing the paper towel as needed.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PC-120-Wipe.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4724\" width=\"366\" height=\"268\"\/><figcaption><em>Wipe the surface with a dry rag<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"575\" height=\"195\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PC-120-Replace-Rag-When-Dirty.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4725\"\/><figcaption><em>Replace the rag when dirty. Notice how much aluminum oxide was cleaned off &#8220;clean&#8221; looking Aluminum.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\"><li>Not abrading corroded surfaces<ol><li>As good as PC\u2010120 is, it can\u2019t help bonding performance if applied to a surface that is already corroded!<\/li><li>Any surface that shows signs of corrosion should be cleaned by sanding or wire brushing to remove any scale or corrosion.<\/li><li>After removal of corrosion then treat the surface with PC\u2010120 as you normally would.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Using PC-120 past its shelf life<ol><li>When stored under normal conditions PC\u2010120 has a shelf life of 12 months in an unopened, original container.<\/li><li>PC\u2010120 bottles are marked with a lot number that is a simple 8 digit code that gives you the date of manufacture.<ol><li>\u201c807241\u201d for example is 2008, 07 month (July), 24th day (the \u201c1\u201d refers to the first batch of PC\u2010120 made that day). Use the lot number to make sure the material is still within shelf life.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Since it contains isopropyl alcohol, PC\u2010120 should be tightly capped when not in use to stop evaporation.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/PC-120.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4728\" width=\"361\" height=\"329\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">Remember these points to avoid problems with Plexus PC-120<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Don&#8217;t use too much PC\u2010120. Only a thin layer is needed.<\/li><li>Use a clean rag to wipe PC\u2010120 off before it completely dries to remove surface contaminants it has cleaned.
