{"id":21594,"date":"2026-06-16T11:53:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-4-5-operation-manual-90763-1-copy\/4-0-power-failures-and-alarms\/4-2-power-failures\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T15:32:59","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T15:32:59","slug":"4-2-power-failures","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-5-operation-manual\/4-0-power-failures-and-alarms\/4-2-power-failures\/","title":{"rendered":"4.2  Power Failures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12 VDC Low Current<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the +12 VDC control power is disconnected during operation, the display will be blank, the flywheel speed will decrease, and the brake will be locked (no precession).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify the boat\u2019s circuit breaker supplying +12 VDC control power has not tripped, and the AC breaker is On.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When +12 VDC control power is restored, the MFD app will power up, the Splash Screen will appear, and then the Home Screen will appear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the Power On\/Off button <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 50px;\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Seakeeper_Power_On_Button.jpg\" alt=\"\"> . The progress bar will appear and indicate flywheel speed. When the flywheel is at its minimum operating speed, the Stabilize button will appear, allowing stabilization to be turned on. This may take up to 20 minutes, depending on the flywheel&#8217;s speed when the +12 VDC is turned back on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seawater Pump Power<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the Seawater Pump input DC power is disconnected during operation, the Seawater Pump will fail to provide cooling seawater flow when required. The resulting high temperatures would result in the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> being turned off (no stabilization) due to high temperature alarm(s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify that the boat&#8217;s circuit breaker or fuse supplying power to the DC Seawater Pump has not tripped or blown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When DC SW Pump power is restored, reset any alarm and continue <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> operation. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AC Power Failure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the AC power is disconnected during operation, a notification screen will indicate \u201cAC Mains Low\u201d. If the failure is not corrected within 2 minutes, an \u201cAC Mains Low\u201d alarm will be triggered. The brake will lock, and the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> will stop moving if stabilization is on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Verify the boat\u2019s circuit breaker supplying 110-230 VAC to the Motor Drive Box has not tripped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When 110-230 VAC is restored, the display will power up, the Splash Screen will appear, and then the Home Screen will appear.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the Power On\/Off button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"50\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-1898\" style=\"width: 50px;\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Seakeeper_Power_On_Button.jpg\" alt=\"\"> . The progress bar will appear and indicate flywheel speed. When the flywheel is at its minimum operating speed, the Stabilize button will appear, allowing stabilization to be turned on. This may take up to 30 minutes, depending on the flywheel&#8217;s speed when the 110-230 VAC is turned back on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AC Power Fluctuation, Spike, or Momentary Failure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the AC voltage to the Motor Drive Box is outside <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span>\u2019s specified range (110 \u2013 230 VAC), the Motor Drive Box will briefly shut down for protection. The Motor Drive Box will continue operation when the voltage returns to the specified range. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div style=\"margin-top: 0.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em;\">A brief fluctuation can happen when the generator is unable to regulate its output voltage, particularly when a large AC load is switched on or off.
