{"id":21324,"date":"2026-03-31T12:33:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T12:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-6-installation-manual-90402-6-6-254-8146-to-current-copy\/electrical-installation\/electrical-equipment-power-connections-2\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T11:26:59","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T11:26:59","slug":"electrical-equipment-power-connections-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-7-5-installation-manual\/electrical-installation\/electrical-equipment-power-connections-2\/","title":{"rendered":"3.2   Electrical Equipment Power Connections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">AC Input Power Source Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Either of two AC input voltages are acceptable:<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>110 &#8211; 120 VAC (nominal) (+\/- 10%), 1 Phase, 50\/60 Hz, 30 A<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>208 &#8211; 230 VAC (nominal) (+\/- 10%), 1 Phase, 50\/60 Hz, 30 A<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A separate circuit breaker should be used for each <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> drive in multiple <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> installations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spool-Up Power Modes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 7.5 is factory-configured for Default Spool mode, which accelerates the flywheel to operating speed (9700 RPM) in 24 minutes. This mode requires a higher AC power draw during startup (4000 W) but reduces the overall startup duration. For vessels with limited generator capacity or where minimizing peak electrical load is preferred, an optional Low-Power Spool mode can be selected on the display&#8217;s Settings page. This mode reduces the startup power demand to only 2300 W, which increases the time required for the flywheel to reach operating speed. Select the spool mode appropriate for the vessel&#8217;s electrical system to ensure reliable operation without overloading the AC power source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:25px\">Drive Box AC Power Input Connection Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cable: 3 x 10 AWG (3 x 6mm<sup>2<\/sup> CSA), 10 ft (3 m) length, <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> supplied pre-installed.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate AC Power Input Cable to the Drive at the outward of two cable glands per Figure 17.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect AC wires to a 230 V, 30 A (<strong>or<\/strong> 110 V, 30 A), double-pole Circuit Breaker at an AC power distribution panel.<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2794\" <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> provided DC Power Input Cable, P\/N 20248 (shown in <strong>Drawing No.<\/strong><em>90951<\/em>):<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route DC Power Input Cable to DC Power Distribution Panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terminate positive (B+, Red) conductor through dedicated over-current protection device (customer supplied) and a dedicated <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> isolation switch (customer supplied) then directly to battery plus terminal. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terminate negative (B-, Black) conductor directly to battery negative terminal or negative bus.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before connecting DC Power Input Cable to <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, check for proper voltage and polarity with a DC multimeter using Figure 19.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect DC Power Input Cable to 12 VDC input receptacle on <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" <strong>Drawing No.<\/strong> <em>90951<\/em>) with overcurrent protection corresponding to seawater pump selected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect the 14 AWG positive conductor (red) through dedicated overcurrent protection device (customer-supplied), maximum of 15 A, to dedicated battery isolation switch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect the 14 AWG negative conductor (black) directly to battery negative terminal or DC main negative bus bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before connecting DC SW Pump Input Power Cable to <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span>, check for proper seawater pump.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seawater Pump Output Power Cable is a 2 x 14 AWG cable, 16 ft (5 m) length, with a size 14 female Deutsch plug.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pumps rated at 12 VDC, 15 A maximum, customer-supplied, must be configured with a Deutsch DTP series, 2-pin receptacle to mate with the connector shown in Figure
