{"id":20874,"date":"2025-11-13T13:45:54","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T13:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-18-installation-manual-90672-2-s-n-18-234-2475-to-current-copy\/2-0-electrical-installation\/2-2-electrical-equipment-ground-connections\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T15:07:30","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T15:07:30","slug":"2-2-electrical-equipment-ground-connections","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-18-installation-manual-90672-3-s-n-18-254-2135-to-current\/2-0-electrical-installation\/2-2-electrical-equipment-ground-connections\/","title":{"rendered":"3.3  Electrical Equipment Ground Connections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> foundation ground (Fig.34) to the vessel ground.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install Ground Cable (10 AWG or 6.0 mm<sup>2<\/sup>, (Customer supplied) from the M6 brass ground stud on the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> rear brace to a suitable vessel ground. <em>Note: ONLY USE THIS LOCATION FOR GROUNDING THE SEAKEEPER TO THE VESSEL GROUND.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install Ground Cable (10 AWG or 6.0 mm<sup>2<\/sup>, (Customer supplied) from the M6 brass ground stud on the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> rear brace to a suitable vessel ground.<br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EN\/IEC 60204-1:2016 Clauses 6.3.3 and 8.2.3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ABYC E-11 July 2021 Clauses 11.5.2 and 11.17<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ground connection should be made with vessel bonding system, if available. However, the ground is not referring specifically to a bonding system but for outboard boats generally refers to the outboard engine negative terminal. Per ABYC E-11 (2021), Clause 11.5.2.7.4: <em>If the<\/em> <em>negative side of the DC system is to be connected to the ground, the connection shall be made only<\/em> <em>from the engine negative terminal, or its bus, to the DC grounding bus. This connection shall be<\/em> <em>used only as a means of maintaining the negative side of the circuit at ground potential and is not<\/em> <em>to carry current under normal operating conditions.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A proper ground connection is critically important for corrosion protection and helps to ensure the     ignition protection of the unit by ensuring it does not carry any stray current.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\"><strong>NOTE: USE ONLY THE GROUND LUG SHOWN FOR GROUNDING THE SEAKEEPER TO THE VESSEL GROUND.
