{"id":16688,"date":"2023-08-08T14:50:19","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T14:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-4000-4500-installation-manual-90762-1-draft\/3-0-electrical-installation\/3-4-seawater-pump-power-connections\/"},"modified":"2023-08-08T15:04:17","modified_gmt":"2023-08-08T15:04:17","slug":"3-4-seawater-pump-power-connections","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-4-4-5-installation-manual\/3-0-electrical-installation\/3-4-seawater-pump-power-connections\/","title":{"rendered":"3.4  Seawater Pump Power Connections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/CAUTION.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10247\" width=\"136\" height=\"120\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\"><br><strong>Reversing polarity on the DC power input to the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span> can result in damage to electronics in the control system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DC Seawater Pump Power Source Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One 12 VDC, 15 A (Customer supplied) for DC Seawater Pump.<br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>OPTIONAL: <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> 4.5 may use one 24 VDC, 10 A (Customer supplied) source for the DC Seawater Pump.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dedicated breaker should be used for each 12 VDC load on the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span>: one breaker for Control Power and one breaker for Seawater Pump power (Drawing No. 90696 and 90699).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dedicated breaker should be used for each <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span>&#8216;s Control and Seawater Pump power if multiple units installed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DC Seawater Pump Input Power Connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> provided DC Seawater Pump Input Cable, P\/N 30327 (as shown in Drawing No. 90696 and 90699).<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Route Seawater Pump Input Cable to DC Power Distribution Panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terminate 16 AWG positive (B+, Red) conductor through 12 VDC dedicated overcurrent protection device (customer supplied), maximum of 15 A, to dedicated battery isolation switch.<br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>24 VDC, 10 max can be used for <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> 4.5 Seawater Pump power.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Terminate 16 AWG negative (B-, Black) conductor directly to battery negative terminal or DC main negative bus bar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before connecting Seawater Pump Input Cable to <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> wire harness (at &#8220;SW PUMP VDC IN&#8221;), check for proper voltage and polarity with a multimeter using figure below.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"213\" height=\"148\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/Figure-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9376\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>DC Seawater Pump Power Input<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>Connect Seawater Pump Input Cable to &#8220;SEAWATER IN&#8221; connector on the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> wire harness Deutsch DT04-2P connector.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DC Seawater Pump Output Power Connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect Seawater Pump Output cable (P\/N 20334) to the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 4.5 &#8220;SW PUMP VDC OUT&#8221; connector.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Seawater Pump Output cable is a 2 X 16 AWG cable, 16 ft (5 m) length, with a size 16 female Deutsch plug.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pumps rated at 12 VDC, 15 A maximum (24 VDC, 10 A), customer-supplied, must be configured with a Deutsch DT series, 2-pin receptacle to mate with the connector shown in figure below.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"499\" height=\"302\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/ABLE-5-Seawater-Pump-Deutsch-Connector.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1486\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Seawater Pump Deutsch Connector<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>The Seawater Pump Output cable must be routed and installed in the vessel from the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> &#8220;SEAWATER OUT&#8221; connector (male) to the DC seawater pump cable Deutsch connector (female).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect Seawater Pump Output cable plug (female) to the customer-supplied receptacle (male).
