{"id":16666,"date":"2023-08-08T14:20:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-4000-4500-installation-manual-90762-1-draft\/3-0-electrical-installation\/3-2-motor-power-connections\/3-2-1-seakeeper-4-motor-power-connection\/"},"modified":"2024-08-09T12:17:53","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T12:17:53","slug":"3-2-1-seakeeper-4-motor-power-connection","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-4-4-5-installation-manual\/3-0-electrical-installation\/3-2-motor-power-connections\/3-2-1-seakeeper-4-motor-power-connection\/","title":{"rendered":"3.2.1  Seakeeper 4 Motor Power Connection"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"406\" height=\"358\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/CAUTION.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10247\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.1320754716981132;width:152px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\"><br><strong>Reversing polarity on the DC power input to the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span> can result in damage to electronics in the control system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">High Current 12 VDC Power Source Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One 12 VDC, 100 A (Customer supplied) for <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> flywheel motor power.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A dedicated breaker should be used for each <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> in a multiple <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> installation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">High Current 12 VDC Power Connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect high-current power red and black cables, 2 AWG conductors, to the 12 VDC power source.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Both cables (red and black) are supplied at length 13 ft (4 m) and approximately 0.5 m is routed within the gyro frame.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If installing cables NOT provided by <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>, ensure the following:<br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cable lengths do not exceed 29.5 ft (9 m)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cable gauge is 2 AWG or larger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cables bound together but not coiled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect high-current power positive (B+, red) conductor through 100 A overcurrent protection device, dedicated battery isolation switch (customer supplied), and to battery positive (B+) terminal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect high-current power negative (B-, black) conductor directly to battery negative (B-) terminal or to vessel main negative bus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the 2 AWG high current 12 V power input conductors are shortened or lengthened, use heavy-duty eyelet (closed end) terminal such as Molex 19221-0235 and follow instructions outlined in the following steps.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:33.33%\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"946\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/Terminal-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9362\" style=\"width:244px;height:112px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/Terminal-1.png 946w, https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/Terminal-1-768x356.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 946px) 100vw, 946px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The bare wire strands should extend fully into the barrel of the heavy-duty eyelet and be crimped in two places if possible then sealed with double-wall heat shrink tubing. (38 mm) of double wall (adhesive lined) heat shrink tubing over both the terminal barrel and the conductor insulation.
