{"id":14229,"date":"2023-03-17T15:46:05","date_gmt":"2023-03-17T15:46:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-3-installation-manual-90378-7-sk3-cbro-draft\/3-0-electrical-installation\/3-4-seakeeper-display-connection\/"},"modified":"2023-07-11T11:43:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-11T11:43:15","slug":"3-4-seakeeper-display-connection","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/seakeeper-3-installation-manual-90378-7\/3-0-electrical-installation\/3-4-seakeeper-display-connection\/","title":{"rendered":"3.4 ConnectBox Display Connections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.4.1  <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 Display Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A compatible display is required with the installation of a <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 to support the full functionality of the unit through the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> App in addition to the ConnectBox. The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> App provides an interface for  controlling the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 or viewing the Settings, Service, Info, and Alarm pages. The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> ConnectBox can be helm-mounted to provide an additional interface for the control of the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 <strong>but does not replace the need for a <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> compatible display<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 has several control interface connection options to support the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> App:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 3 to a compatible Multifunction Display (MFD) as seen in Figure 20.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install an optional <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 5&#8243; Touch Display (P\/N 90467) as seen in Figure 21.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A combination of a compatible MFD and an optional 5&#8243; Touch Display is also available (See drawing 90377).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The following figure provides a schematic of two display options. Refer to the Technical Bulletins Section of the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> Technical Library for manufacturer specific MFD compatibility technical bulletins.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MFD specific Technical Bulletins will be updated regularly as new MFD systems become available. Currently Garmin, Raymarine, NAVICO (Simrad, Lowrance, B&amp;G), and Furuno offer compatible MFD models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once a compatible MFD has been selected, refer to the appropriate manufacturer specific Technical Bulletin for integration instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span>-supplied Ethernet Adapter cable, D-Code 32.8 ft (10 m) cable to MFD manufacturer-specific Ethernet adapter cable (See Figure 20 above). Custom Ethernet cables for specific MFD manufacturers are available through <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> and must be purchased with the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 3 when connecting to an MFD.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.4.3 Connecting to an Optional <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 5&#8243; Touch Display<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If not utilizing a compatible MFD display, a <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 5\u201d Touch Display must be purchased from <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span>. The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 5\u201d Touch Display (P\/N 90467) includes the components shown in the following figure and will be integrated with the ConnectBox.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/90467.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16469\" width=\"302\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/90467.png 604w, https:\/\/manuals.seakeeper.com\/seakeeper\/wp-content\/uploads\/90467-542x768.png 542w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 302px) 100vw, 302px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 5&#8243; Touch Display Components<\/em><br>(P\/N 90467)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Determine location of <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 5\u201d Touch Display:<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The desired location of the 5\u201d Touch Display must be determined with respect to the vessel\u2019s arrangement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The 5\u201d Touch Display should be located on or near the helm or another easily accessible location.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Route CAN communications cable:<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The CAN Cable, (labelled NMEA 2000 Cable in figure), is a 82 ft (25 m) shielded cable that connects the ConnectBox Tee adapter to the 5\u201d Touch Display.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The NMEA 2000 cable must be routed and installed in the vessel from the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> 3 wire harness CAN Tee to the Tee Adapter at the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> 5\u201d Touch Display, included with P\/N 90467.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Install <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 5&#8243; Touch Display equipment:<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Console space required: Approx. 5.24 W x 3.70 H in. (133 x 94 mm)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mounting Instructions, Surface Mount: see Envelope and Mounting Details, in Drawing No. 90438 \u2013 5\u201d Display Envelope and Mounting Details.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CAN communications tee adapter and terminator mounting instructions:<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Console space required, Rear: Approx. 4 W x 3 H in. (102 x 76 mm)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mounting Instructions: Rear mount on vessel console panel, within 2 ft (0.6 m) of Display.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hardware required: One mounting screw for .197 in. (5 mm) diameter mounting hole on Tee Adapter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span> 5\u201d Touch Display Equipment:<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> 5\u201d Touch Display is connected in accordance with Figure 21 above.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.4.4  NMEA 2000 Network Connection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 requires a connection to the vessel\u2019s NMEA 2000 network backbone via a drop cable for access to the GPS signal. The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3 will monitor information on the NMEA network to support and optimize the performance of the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> 3. If no GPS signal is detected, a warning will appear on the <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> display. The <span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span> will not spool-down, but the operation of the unit will be limited until the GPS signal returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Install customer-supplied NMEA 2000 Tee Adapter (space required: approximately 4 W X 3 H in. (102 X 76 mm).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect NMEA Backbone to Tee Adapter. <strong>NOTE:<\/strong> NMEA drop cable can be no longer than 19.6 ft (6 m) in length.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span>-supplied NMEA cable (P\/N: 30332) to the customer-supplied NMEA 2000 Tee Adapter on vessel\u2019s NMEA 2000 backbone.<br>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An active NMEA 2000 compatible GPS signal is required on the vessel\u2019s NMEA 2000 backbone to operate the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> 3.<br>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If no GPS signal is detected, a Speed Over Ground (SOG signal) warning will be present on the <span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\"><span translate=\"no\">Seakeeper<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> app. See TB-90640 for NMEA connectivity guidance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.4.5  ConnectBox Helm Mounting &#8211; Optional<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Console space required: Approx. 3.41 L x 4.15 W in.
